Various attractive activities at Thanh Tuyen Festival

HCMC – Thanh Tuyen Festival 2019 will be held in the northern province of Tuyen Quang from September 12 to 14 with exciting culture, sports and tourism events, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The festival will introduce the cultural heritage of Tuyen Quang Province to domestic and foreign tourists, thus promoting its tourism.

The opening ceremony under the theme “Tuyen Quang – Land of Quintessence” will take place at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square on September 12. The 60-minute art show will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television and local channels.

The ceremony will be attended by international guests from Xiangkhouang (Laos), Yunnan (China), Gyeonggi (South Korea), Oita Prefecture (Japan) and Thuringen (Germany) and the Embassies of Laos, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, China, South Korea, Japan, France, Italy, Germany and Spain.

The second night themed “Colorful Thanh Tuyen Festival night” will feature a lantern parade, showcasing giant lanterns with various shapes and colors.

The festival will wrap up with an art show themed “Tuyen Quang – Integration and Development” at the main stage of Nguyen Tat Thanh Square and the gate of the province’s convention center, starting at 8 p.m.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about national intangible cultural heritage during the festival, including Chhay-dam drum dance from the southern province of Tay Ninh, mua bong traditional dance from Trieu Khuc Village in Hanoi and don ca tai tu (southern amateur music) from the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu.

Since it was first held in 2014, the Thanh Tuyen Festival has set a number of records, including “a festival featuring the largest lanterns in Vietnam”, “the biggest mid-autumn fruit tray in Vietnam”, and “the biggest pair of lanterns in Vietnam”.
