A collection of newly done ink wash paintings are being on display at an exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City, in celebration of Vietnam’s 74th National Day (September 2).

The Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association, in cooperation with the city Chinese Fine Arts Club, kicked off the annual ink wash painting exhibit at its premises on Thursday.

Ink wash painting is a type of East Asian brush painting that uses black ink, as those used in East Asian calligraphy, in different concentrations.

The ten-day event, running until September 2, features 71 drawings that are painted this year in ink wash technique by 40 artists, who are Chinese nationals living and working in Ho Chi Minh City.

The exhibited ink wash paintings reflect a wide range of topics, covering landscapes, culture, people and daily life in the country’s coastal regions and in Ho Chi Minh City.
