Renowned Vietnamese poet Xuan Quynh featured on Google Doodles

Late Vietnamese poet Xuan Quynh was featured by Google Doodles on Sunday to mark the 77th anniversary of her birthday.

Xuan Quynh was the third Vietnamese figure and first Vietnamese woman to be honored by Google Doodles, temporary logos on the Google homepage.

Late Vietnamese songwriter Trinh Cong Son was previously featured on the page on February 28, which was his 80th birthday.

Bui Xuan Phai, a late Vietnamese painter and artist, was honored on September 1 on the occasion of his 99th birth anniversary.

According to Google, Xuan Quynh was one of the most popular poets in Vietnamese literature whose works have become well known to many generations of Vietnamese people.

Her poems are romantic, full of emotions, and depict different feelings of love.

In the illustration, the poet stands on the background of waves, which was the title of her most famous poem – ‘Sóng.’

Her son, Luu Tuan Anh, said he was very proud that his mother was featured on the Google front page, adding that Google had asked for his permission about six months ago.

Xuan Quynh, whose full name is Nguyen Thi Xuan Quynh, was born on October 6, 1942 in La Khe Village, now Ha Dong District, Hanoi.

Before becoming a poet, she was an accomplished dancer and had traveled the world to perform.

She married distinguished poet and playwright Luu Quang Vu.

In 2017, the Vietnamese government awarded Xuan Quynh the Ho Chi Minh Prize, the country’s highest artistic honor.
